Compensated patient. Despite an easy delivery and a well-behaved baby, Payge couldn't sleep, eat, or interact with family the way she wanted. After expressing her feelings to her dad, he gave her the push she needed to get help. Her healthcare provider diagnosed her with PPD and prescribed ZURZUVAE. Before she even noticed it herself, her partner saw her symptoms start to improve and her spark start to return.

PAYGE:
I have always been a really career-oriented person. Career has been extremely important to me.
When I met Matt, we ultimately got talking…
…and we tried to figure out what our lives would look like together because he really wanted kids.
We decided that we did want to have kids and that we could do this.
Name Super:
Payge | Age 31
Mom of 2
Treated with ZURZUVAE for PPD following the birth of her second child
Pregnancy was really interesting. The first three months were some of the most miserable months of my life. I was constantly sick, very unhappy.
The closer I got towards delivering, the more excited I got about having a baby.
Campbell was a preemie—so we did have some complications. He wasn't eating well, he wasn't sleeping. He also wasn't doing a great job latching while I was trying to breastfeed and breastfeeding became a really challenging thing for me.
It was just a very heavy burden of feeling like; maybe I can't actually be a good mom.
I went to a follow-up appointment with my OB and I received the PDSS, which is an assessment for postpartum depression. I remember circling almost everything.
She officially diagnosed me with postpartum depression.
She recommended potentially considering some treatment options. I said I don't really have an interest in being on antidepressants.
I was still under the impression that I could just power through this. At about seven and a half, maybe eight months, is when I started to feel a little bit better.
We got pregnant with Murphy in December of 2024. Murphy had one of the most beautiful, easy deliveries I could have ever imagined.
When I got home, I felt like, “Okay, this will be great.” And within about a day or two, I realized that that feeling was starting to take a steep dive.
I was crying a lot. I wasn't sleeping well. I wasn't eating.
Murphy was such an easy baby, but I was having such a hard time looking at her and feeling the same love I had seen in Campbell right away, and so I was having a really hard time bonding with Murphy.

These are not all the symptoms of PPD. PPD can present differently in each person. Only a healthcare professional can diagnose PPD.
I called my dad on a Saturday and he asked how I was doing, how I was feeling. I of course told him I could feel the postpartum depression coming back.
My dad said, “Why don't you get help this time? Call your doctor, get help. Get started on some sort of treatment.”
I called the OB, and it was a doctor that isn't my normal doctor that was on call. And I was able to discuss with him what I was feeling.
After answering a bunch of questions, a lot of them I had recognized from that PDSS assessment that I had been given before, he said, “I am diagnosing you with postpartum depression,” and he said that there were two courses of action we could take for treatment for postpartum depression.
The first option was the SSRI route that I had been told about during my first postpartum experience—but he also told me about a treatment option I hadn’t heard about before.
It was called ZURZUVAE (zuranolone).
The OB explained to me that I take ZURZUVAE once a day in the evening for 14 days with fat-containing food.

My doctor's office worked with my insurance and through a specialty pharmacy, which offers different services from a retail pharmacy.
I filled out some paperwork. Found out what my cost would be, and I was able to start ZURZUVAE about a week later.

Insurance coverage may vary and is not guaranteed
Everyone's insurance is different and not all plans may cover it. So, I feel pretty lucky that mine did.
The first dose, I felt pretty darn drowsy and exhausted.
By day three, I really started to notice a difference.
I was having dinner with my family and Matt made a little pun. I must have chuckled or smiled, and he looked at me and said, “Did you just smile?”
It almost made me want to cry tears of joy, really feeling like, “Wow, maybe this treatment is working”
I was feeling more like myself again, even the hard moments had joy in them.

ZURZUVAE 50 mg or placebo was studied in women with PPD
Individual results may vary.
By day five I was feeling an improvement with my postpartum depression symptoms. I was starting to eat more and had more of an appetite. I felt like I wasn't crying as often and could see a little more joy and hope.
It's important to remember that this is my experience and everyone's experience with ZURZUVAE will be different.
If I heard that someone was struggling with postpartum depression, I would encourage them to advocate for themselves. Only a doctor can diagnose postpartum depression, but it is your job to make sure that you get help.
So, call your doctor, make sure you have friends and family surround you, and get the help you need.
No one deserves to have a bad time adjusting to motherhood. It's such a big change. So, I hope my story helps other moms feel like they are supported, there are people that know what they’re going through, and that there are treatments available that can help them.

BETHANY:
I think I’m a very involved mom. I have four kids. I’m always the one taking them to do social activities and playdates. After I had my third, my daughter…
I struggled to be an involved parent. I noticed that I was starting to feel really depressed.
Name Super:
Bethany | Age 39
Mom of 4
Treated with ZURZUVAE for PPD following the birth of her fourth child
I spoke to my OBGYN, and we decided I should try medication. I didn’t take it for long because I got pregnant again quickly. After I had my fourth child, I noticed that the symptoms got a lot worse.
I feel like in that time, there was just such a sadness that permeated everything. I was very irritable sometimes. I noticed I was starting to feel a lot more hopeless. I didn’t feel like I could do the things that I loved to do.
Lower-third Graphic:
These are not all the symptoms of PPD. PPD can present differently in each person. Only a healthcare professional can diagnose PPD.
I’d started to withdraw from my friends and my family. I was exhausted, but as soon as it was time to go to bed, I was wide awake.
I had heard about things like postpartum depression and had heard that some women struggle to bond with their babies during that time, and I didn’t. I was able to bond with my babies very easily, so I really assumed that it couldn’t be postpartum depression.
I made the decision to get help because I felt like whatever was going on here was probably not something I could fix on my own. I had a six-week postpartum checkup coming up with my OBGYN, and so I decided this had to be my moment to talk to her.
She had looked up the information about my pregnancy and my mental health with my third child. She had asked me some questions about how similar it felt.
And I told her it did feel pretty similar, but I felt like this time around felt worse.
She had me do a couple of surveys and evaluations that are designed for postpartum depression, and after she looked at those and chatted with me for a little bit longer, she diagnosed me then with postpartum depression, or PPD.
The next day, my doctor called and said that she wanted to try me on this medication called ZURZUVAE (zuranolone). She and I discussed the most common side effects, which include…

… sleepiness, drowsiness, diarrhea, feeling weak, and having no energy.
The one that I was worried about affecting me the most was drowsiness. With the care of my baby, I was worried…
Lower-third Graphic:
The most common side effects of ZURZUVAE include:
These are not all the possible side effects of ZURZUVAE.
… how would I be able to take care of her if I wasn’t able to stay awake? She also told me not to drive for at least 12 hours after taking ZURZUVAE. I knew I would ask friends and family to help take care of my kids in the evenings during the 14-day treatment.
The moment I decided to go for it and take the ZURZUVAE was hard. If it doesn’t work, where do I go from here? If I didn’t try it, I felt like nothing would ever change.
With my treatment with ZURZUVAE, I actually started to notice a lifting in my mood probably about day three or four. I took ZURZUVAE at night after dinner and felt drowsy after taking the medication for the first few days. It was probably about five days to a week that people were really noticing and seeing a difference. But this is just my experience.
Lower-third Graphic:
ZURZUVAE 50 mg or placebo was studied in women with PPD
Individual results may vary.
Everyone’s experience with ZURZUVAE may be different. I remember, about the fifth day, we loaded up my two-year-old and our little newborn, the teenagers who normally complain about going anywhere, and went down to the beach.
I found a nice spot on a fallen log, and I had my newborn all bundled up in my arms, and my teenagers were off taking selfies and laughing, and my two-year-old was chasing the waves back and forth across the water, and she was just giggling. The sun peeked out from those clouds, and it hit me, and I felt like it was the first moment in three years that I had felt any hope. Now, I’m back to having moments like that with my kids more often.
I tell women who have been diagnosed with postpartum depression that this isn’t their fault. I want other women to be aware of what PPD symptoms are and that not everyone experiences the same symptoms.
Only a healthcare provider can diagnose PPD, so I encourage women who are struggling with their symptoms to talk to their healthcare team as soon as possible. It can be really scary to ask for help, but there’s bravery and there’s courage in reaching out. There is hope out there.

KATLYN:
I always knew that I wanted to be a mom. I have one son. His name is Cayson. I love the busyness, the—the imagination that he has…
Name Super:
Katlyn | Age 25
Mom of 1
Treated for PPD in 2021 as part of a clinical trial for ZURZUVAE
… and just—every day is different.
I experienced some symptoms of depression a few years prior to being pregnant with Cayson.
I did take medication. I stopped medication while I was pregnant. After Cayson was born, I started noticing some symptoms of depression within a few weeks.
I was a single mom and felt so alone. I lost motivation to do the hobbies I used to love, like crafting.
I felt like a failure—like I wasn’t a good enough mom. I stopped taking care of myself—even doing simple things like showering. All I wanted to do was sleep.
Lower-third Graphic:
These are not all the symptoms of PPD. PPD can present differently in each person. Only a healthcare professional can diagnose PPD.
I had talked to my OB at my six-week follow-up and kind of let them know how I was feeling. Initially, I didn’t want to tell her, because I thought it was something I had to deal with myself. But at the end of the day, I knew I needed to say something, because I didn’t want to feel like that anymore.
I completed a screener, which meant answering a list of questions about my symptoms. My OB asked me some follow-up questions and, based on my answers, she diagnosed me with postpartum depression, or PPD. She and I decided I should go back on the medication I was on before pregnancy.
My medications weren’t helping as much as I would have liked. I was hoping that there was something else out there to help. It was about eight months after Cayson was born that I had found the clinical trial for women with postpartum depression. I actually heard about the clinical trial scrolling on social media. It was testing an investigational medication…
… which would later be known as ZURZUVAE (zuranolone). I learned more about the trial and took all the steps I needed to enroll. The trial staff told me that I would receive ZURZUVAE or a placebo, which is a fake pill, but I wouldn’t know which one.
Lower-third Graphic:
What is ZURZUVAE® (zuranolone) CIV?

They said it was okay for me to continue taking my other medication during the trial. We talked about potential side effects and what to expect. They told me not to drive for at least 12 hours after taking the treatment, since ZURZUVAE may decrease awareness and alertness.
Yeah, I was a little nervous about maybe how the medication could possibly affect me, just being a single mom and being by myself. I decided to join the trial just for that small chance of getting relief from my symptoms of postpartum depression.
Also, with my doctor’s agreement, I had continued taking my other medication for depression throughout the trial.
Treatment with ZURZUVAE was 14 days, but the trial had an observational period that lasted longer.
I started feeling better within three or four days of starting ZURZUVAE. I felt my depression symptoms lifting. My mood started improving. Of course, this is just my experience. Everyone’s experience with ZURZUVAE may be different.
Lower-third Graphic:
ZURZUVAE 50 mg or placebo was studied in women with PPD

I had a couple of appointments during and after the trial for the nurses and doctors to document how I was doing.
They checked for potential side effects, such as sleepiness, drowsiness, dizziness, common cold, diarrhea, feeling weak, or having no energy, but I don’t remember experiencing any of those.
Lower-third Graphic:
The most common side effects of ZURZUVAE include:
These are not all the possible side effects of ZURZUVAE.
When my symptoms improved, it felt easier to do more for Cayson, and more for myself. After the 14-day treatment with ZURZUVAE, I felt motivated to get out of the house again—taking Cayson out shopping or going to dinner with friends. I started enjoying old hobbies again. I was grateful to do these things without feeling so weighed down by my PPD symptoms.
After the trial, I received a phone call from the trial staff where they told me that I had received ZURZUVAE, not a placebo. Now, I’m newly married to a wonderful man, and I’m in school for a career I’m passionate about. I have hope for the future. I still dream about having a big family. But for now, I love watching my son grow into his own person.
My advice for moms who may not feel like themselves is to talk to a friend or family member, and to their healthcare team, about how they’re feeling. If their doctor does diagnose them with PPD, they should discuss treatment options to find one that’s right for them.
I want women to know that they’re not alone, and it’s not their fault. A lot of women go through this, and there’s an oral treatment approved for PPD, ZURZUVAE, that may be able to help.

Compensated patient. After her first pregnancy, Katy experienced symptoms of PPD. When those same disengaged, withdrawn feelings returned after her second pregnancy, she knew what they meant and reached out to her OBGYN right away. She was diagnosed with PPD and prescribed ZURZUVAE. She felt relief with ZURZUVAE and felt the joy within the chaos of motherhood. She hopes sharing her story reminds others there’s no shame in speaking up.

KATY:
Family really means everything to me. I have really great memories growing up, getting together for family gatherings and family vacations. Now that I have kids, they…
… will recount stories of vacations we’ve taken or places we’ve gone. It’s probably the coolest part about being—being a parent.
Name Super:
Katy | Age 41
Mom of 2
Treated with ZURZUVAE for PPD following the birth of her second child
I had pretty easy pregnancies with my son Jakob and my daughter Maggy, but I was diagnosed with postpartum depression, or PPD, after both of their births. I had never experienced depression before, so it was all very new. The first time I was diagnosed was in 2020, after my first child, Jakob, was born.
My mood was really low. I was sad. I had bouts of insomnia. I gained a lot of weight, and I don’t think I was taking very good care of myself. I also felt like something was really wrong with me.
Lower-third Graphic:
These are not all the symptoms of PPD. PPD can present differently in each person. Only a healthcare professional can diagnose PPD.
I kind of just tried to deal with symptoms of PPD for four or five months. I brought it to my OB, and he suggested that I go on some form of medication. I tried that out for four or five months, and it just didn’t really work for me.
My son was probably 14, 15 months old, and I realized I was still experiencing the symptoms of PPD. I sought out a therapist who specialized in postpartum disorders. I started seeing her weekly. My symptoms did improve. I had probably been seeing her a year and a half or two years when we started to try for another baby.
Finding out I was pregnant again was—honestly, it was awesome. And then finding out we were having a little girl was extra awesome. I was seeing a new OB. I was really open about the PPD I had experienced after my first pregnancy. She had really great conversations with me throughout my pregnancy about how I could address it if it came up again.
I had our daughter in June 2024. At first, I felt fantastic. About a month after Maggy was born, I started to experience symptoms of PPD again.
I had really low energy. I didn’t want to be around people all that much. I felt very, kind of, disengaged from my baby, which comes along with a lot of feelings of shame.
Lower-third Graphic:
These are not all the symptoms of PPD. PPD can present differently in each person. Only a healthcare professional can diagnose PPD.
I reached out to my OB within a week of starting to feel the symptoms, and I absolutely burst into tears, and in that instance, she knew that something was wrong. I had suffered for so long after Jakob’s birth with my PPD, and I knew that I wanted to address it sooner than later. She did have me take a postpartum depression screener, and then she asked me follow-up questions about the symptoms and diagnosed me with PPD.
One of the treatments we talked about during my second pregnancy was ZURZUVAE (zuranolone) CIV, which wasn’t available at the time of my first pregnancy. We talked about potential side effects, such as…

… sleepiness, drowsiness, dizziness, common cold, diarrhea, feeling weak, and having no energy. My OB also told me not to drive for at least 12 hours after taking ZURZUVAE. One of the main questions I had…
Lower-third Graphic:
The most common side effects of ZURZUVAE include:
These are not all the possible side effects of ZURZUVAE.
… because of the potential side effects was whether I’d be able to take care of my kids when I was on the treatment. After discussing all of this with my OB and getting my family’s full support, I decided to try treating my PPD with ZURZUVAE, along with the antidepressant I was already on.
The thought of it helping to alleviate my symptoms within 14 days was, I mean, very encouraging. The very first night of the treatment, I felt a little groggy.
Lower-third Graphic:
ZURZUVAE 50 mg or placebo was studied in women with PPD
Individual results may vary.
I started to notice improvement in my PPD symptoms within three to four days of starting ZURZUVAE. My mood started to even out.
Of course, this is just my experience, and everyone’s experience with ZURZUVAE may be different.
Lower-third Graphic:
Individual experiences may vary.
Because my PPD symptoms had diminished, I could be, like, in love with my kids again. Life is hectic with a four-and-a-half-year-old and an eight-month-old. It’s chaos, but it’s also so much joy, and I feel so grateful for it.
I’m really proud of myself that I went to my OB as soon as I started to experience PPD symptoms. Women who are experiencing symptoms should talk to their healthcare provider, as only a healthcare provider can diagnose PPD and help find the right treatment. There is no shame in speaking up and asking for help. It’s not worth suffering.

ASHLEY:
I'm Ashley. My husband and I live in California.
We spend tons of time outside hiking, going to the beach, and just spending time as a family with my daughter London and my son Emerson.
Name Super:
Ashley | Age 39
Mom of 2
Treated with ZURZUVAE for PPD following the birth of her second child
My husband and I both work. So we spend a lot of time setting up routines that support that.
I usually have time by myself in the morning, reading, journaling. From there, it's getting everyone ready and out the door.
When London was born, pregnancy and postpartum went fairly smoothly. I was in and out of the hospital within 24 hours. During those first few weeks, I felt like it was just us in our little bubble, and we really just loved that time.
We got pregnant with Emerson and he was born when London was three years old.
Emerson's birth was definitely more difficult. The pregnancy in itself was higher risk. I suffered a postpartum hemorrhage, which left me in excruciating pain and unable to hold my baby for the first 24 hours.
Five days postpartum, I started to feel a little better physically from what I had been through during childbirth. And a few hours later, I was rushed back to the hospital via ambulance with postpartum preeclampsia.
My blood pressure was all over the place, so they didn't want me to leave. So I spent an additional five nights in the hospital.
Because of what I had gone through, because of the postpartum hemorrhage and the post-partum preeclampsia, I was at a higher risk for postpartum depression.
After eight weeks postpartum and feeling better physically from what I went through, I thought the hardest part was over, but then something shifted in me. Every day it was getting worse.
I was shaking, I was sweating, I had a constant feeling of fight or flight. I felt like the essence of who I was had changed. I was feeling depressed.
The routines were the one thing that I was able to cling on, but usually when I'm in my routines, there's something that feel really good and really empowering. And at this point, I just felt like I was in complete survival mode.
Lower-third Graphic:
These are not all the symptoms of PPD. PPD can present differently in each person. Only a healthcare professional can diagnose PPD.
The things that are very simple and seamless for me, like my morning routine, became absolutely impossible. And that's really when I felt like the anger started coming up. I felt so overstimulated all of the time and I started lashing out on London and my husband.
Lower-third Graphic:
If you or a family member are experiencing a mental health crisis, dial 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262)1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262) for the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline, or text HOME to 741741741741 for Crisis Text Line.
When I realized I needed to get help, I had lashed out at London for something very small. I remember she looked at me and she said, “You scare me.” And I remembered telling her that I was scared too.
I immediately went into my family practitioner, and the first thing that they did was the postpartum depression screening, and it was very clear while doing that that there was something very wrong that we needed to figure out.
I was prescribed medications, but they weren't working for me. I was feeling more anxious and depressed, and I started self-isolating.
I remember thinking, “How am I going to do this?”
I had met with a psychiatric nurse practitioner at my clinic who told me about FDA-approved treatment called ZURZUVAE (zuranolone).
At that point I felt really hopeful that maybe there was something that was going to give me some type of relief.

She told me it was a once-a-day pill that I would take for 14 days in the evening with a fat-containing food. We also talked about not driving for at least 12 hours after taking ZURZUVAE.
So I said yes to the treatment.
Thankfully, the clinic that I went to took the lead. They were able to work directly with my insurance company and specialty pharmacy to get me the medication.

I took the medication the first night, and the first day I felt the same. Same thing with day two, and at that point I wasn't expecting any type of change, I just thought, “Here we go, another thing that we're going to try that's not going to have any type of relief for me.” And it was really the third day that I woke up and I started to do the things that were so easy for me prior.
Lower-third Graphic:
ZURZUVAE 50 mg or placebo was studied in women with PPD

That morning I had gotten up and I had done my skincare routine. I remember stopping dead in my tracks and thinking, “I just did that!” I mean, I was very surprised. I almost didn't want to say it out loud because I didn't want to potentially change anything that was happening.
I felt like every day after that, I felt like I was able to breathe. I felt like I started to enjoy my kids again, and I felt like for the first time postpartum, I started to feel joy about having Emerson and being in our family.
This was just my experience with ZURZUVAE, and it may be different for other women.
The person that I truly felt like I was was coming back.
Lower-third Graphic:
Individual results may vary.
London was so excited and I specifically remember one day she asked, she's like, “Mom, you're better now.”
I would want women who are suffering with postpartum depression to know that they are not alone, it was not their fault, and that there was no shame in how they were feeling and that there is potential way to find relief.

KATIE:
I have always wanted to be a mom.
My husband and I were not always on the same page about having a child.
When we decided the timing was right, it made us both feel very excited.
Warren was born in 2025. When I first found out I was pregnant, I told everybody right away. So, I was very excited.

Mom to Warren
Treated with ZURZUVAE for PPD following the birth of her first child
My mother was a very, very good mother.
I wanted that same family experience whenever I grew up and I wanted to have that.
Overall, my pregnancy was fairly easy. I did have some bumps along the way. Morning sickness a lot. I could hardly eat. But I was so excited about the baby I kind of forgot about that.
I remember the day he was born, they laid him on my chest, and I didn't think I could feel as happy as I felt. I was so happy with my husband's reaction. Oh, it made my heart soar to see him holding the baby, and them together!
Coming home from the hospital was challenging. I was exhausted. I had very little sleep.
Whenever my mom came to help, I felt this overwhelming sense of grief that I didn't know where it came from, I didn't know what to do with.
I did not think I was experiencing postpartum depression at all. I didn't understand what postpartum depression was.
Lower-third Graphic:
These are not all the symptoms of PPD. PPD can present differently in each person. Only a healthcare professional can diagnose PPD.
I thought you had to have some kind of history of depression to get postpartum depression. I didn't understand anything about it.
At my six-week checkup with my OB she gave me this postpartum depression checklist and said she wanted to check on me. And she was asking me questions, and I was saying, “Yes, yes...”
It completely took me off guard when she said the word “grief “because I didn't connect that at all before then.
She diagnosed me with postpartum depression and told me that there was treatment for adults with PPD.
It's called ZURZUVAE (zuranolone) CIV.
She said that it was a pill I would take once a day for 14 days, and that I should take it in the evening with a fat-containing meal.

When ZURZUVAE arrived at my house, I did have hesitations about taking it, even though my doctor thought it was a good treatment option for me, I was still very nervous about not being able to wake up in the middle of the night to care for the baby.
I talked to my mom and I talked to my husband about my concerns about taking ZURZUVAE. We looked at the risks and the benefits and my husband encouraged me to take it.
They both were quick to tell me that they were there and they could help.
When I took my first dose of ZURZUVAE, I was a little nervous. I followed all the guidelines I was supposed to, and I went to bed thinking, “Okay, this is really going to tell me if I'm—you know—going to be able to take this.” And as soon as Warren cried, I was able to get up.
I took care of him and he went back to sleep and I went back to sleep and it was fine.
Around day three, I started noticing that the intense emotions were not there. I might have still felt the emotions, but they were not the intensity levels that they were before. My symptoms were starting to improve.
By the end of week two, I realized that I was feeling so much better and I didn't realize how bad I felt until I felt better.
But this is just my experience and other people's experience with ZURZUVAE might be different.

I want other women to know that they are not alone in this journey with PPD. If you're scared or unsure, know that's exactly how I felt.
You can find support, and if you're struggling with symptoms of PPD, talk to your healthcare provider to get the support you deserve.

Warren was still so little when I finally reached out for help. And looking back now, I'm grateful I didn't try to handle everything alone.
After taking ZURZUVAE, I was grateful that I was able to experience motherhood more as I had imagined it.

SARA:
I met Joe at a church and I couldn’t help but notice how handsome he was.
Eventually he asked me out for coffee, and he basically asked me out every day after that.
We dated for about two years…

Sara | Age 25
Mom to Collins
Treated with ZURZUVAE for PPD following the birth of her first child
…before getting engaged. We always knew that we wanted kids. Although it took us some time to get pregnant, my pregnancy was wonderful. My husband was always there catering to my every need. His family lives in town, so I felt really supported, and loved throughout my pregnancy.
I lost my mom when I was three months old. She passed as a result of postpartum depression, and I've had to go through the entirety of my life feeling like there's someone missing. And even before I got pregnant, it was a big concern of mine. It felt like this, sort of dark cloud.
Bringing a newborn home, I knew I would be tired. After I had a three-day labor and almost four hours of pushing, I didn't feel amazing and could barely walk. I couldn't help my baby and that feeling of helplessness was difficult. When I got home from the hospital, I didn't sleep an ounce.
As the days went on and I continued to not sleep at all, I struggled to eat. I struggled to be around the baby. I spent my days at that point just weeping uncontrollably. And I didn't know what was wrong. I couldn't stand to be around anyone.
I couldn't really stand to be around the baby as weird as that sounds. I remember I would stand over her bassinet, or her crib, and just look at her, and I would tell her “I love you,” because I knew it was important, but I didn't feel it. I just spent my days sad.

These are not all the symptoms of PPD. PPD can present differently in each person. Only a healthcare professional can diagnose PPD.
It was Halloween night, three o'clock in the morning, and I feel like something is wrong. I just feel unwell. And I just know that I need to see a doctor.
We packed up the car and drove to the ER. The ER doctor told me that I was just experiencing anxiety and was brushing me off like a new mom who was overwhelmed. There was no empathy. It made me feel hopeless.
So at that point, I knew I needed more care, more help. I knew I had to talk to an OB.
I needed to talk to someone who knew about my concerns and my family history. And so I called my OB’s office. After listening to all my symptoms and completing an assessment, my OB diagnosed me with postpartum depression.
As a treatment option, we talked about ZURZUVAE (zuranolone).
She explained that it was a pill taken once a day for 14 days with dinner in the evening with fat-containing food.

Since ZURZUVAE can decrease awareness and alertness, it's important to talk to your doctor, family, and friends in your care circle about the impact it may have, including not driving for at least 12 hours after taking each dose.

The first few days on the medicine, I didn't feel overly different. It must have been about day three or four of taking it where I didn't feel back to normal, but there were just smaller glimmers of hope throughout that day. I was able to eat a little more. I didn't spend the whole day crying.

I remember feeling very hopeful at that moment. I was like, “Okay, there's a light at the end here.”
About a week into treatment, I feel like I laughed for the first time, probably since I had her. In that moment, I just felt hopeful.
I had a really positive experience on ZURZUVAE.
It’s important to remember that this is my experience and everyone's experience with ZURZUVAE will be different.

I'm grateful that I had a care team who was able to listen to what I was experiencing and prescribe ZURZUVAE.
And to other moms who may be struggling postpartum, I just want them to know that there are treatment options out there for them.
I feel really lucky. I get to give my baby the life and the mom that I didn't get.
And it's really special. In my darkest moments postpartum, I didn't know if she was going to get that, and at this point now, I love being a mom. It's the best thing I could ever possibly do.
